Gus's Story...
Gus is quite simply a dear, really great dog! He is happy, friendly, sweet, outgoing, responsive, athletic, and darn good-looking. One of those dogs who seems to "have it all." He has so far been great with children and cats. Gus is quite people-affectionate. He likes to give hugs with his long, elegant legs! It was quite a sight tonight watching him sail around the yard with a ropetoy in his mouth, 3 dogs in hot pursuit! He is housebroken and learning about crating. He sits at street corners and doesn’t jump or run up to passers-by. Like most young dogs, he has his moments of excitability but he corrects well. Gus is a very kind, sweet, and joyful dog!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Gus, a Berkeley Labrador Retriever/Deerhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Deerhound for sale in Berkeley, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Deerhound dog from a breeder in Berkeley.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Berkeley already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Berkeley breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Deerhound breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Deerhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Berkeley paves the way for another one to be saved.
