Farrah's Story...
This sweet, gentle girl came into the shelter a little gray matted fluff ball. After an extensive grooming session (for which she sat completely still), there emerged a lovely white Pekingese princess whose grateful gaze from the deep pools of those beautiful brown eyes, and oh-so-subtle leaning-in toward you speak volumes about the difference in her life before the shelter and now; now, she is surrounded by loving volunteers and staffmemebers who find her softly-spoken ways endearing, eliciting nothing but the warmest gestures of attention. Farrah is still a bit timid about going out into the world, so for now, we are taking it slowly and introducing her to the nearby park is small doses. This extremely lovable and loving girl needs a home where she will be the apple of her person or family's eye, where she will be treated with tenderness and respect, and where she will never have to worry about being neglected and abandoned again.

Act quickly to adopt Farrah. Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Farrah, a Berkeley Pekingese dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pekingese for sale in Berkeley, or seeking a Pekingese dog from a breeder in Berkeley.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Berkeley already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Berkeley breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pekingese breeders who help with Pekingese rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Berkeley paves the way for another one to be saved.
