Aretha's Story...
Meet Aretha! She is a big, beautiful girl. Aretha is about 8 months old and 63lbs. She is a big teddy bear. Aretha loves eveyone and she is always ready for affection. She is strong so needs an adopter that will continue to work with her on her training. She is good on a leash. She is good with other dogs. Aretha loves belly rubs. She is good for rides in the car and very eager to please. She is housetrained and crate trained too. Aretha always wears a smile and she is always ready to play. She is a great dog and would make a wonderful companion. Aretha would do best in an active home that could supply her with regular exercise and a family that would invest in training because she really does well with it. Aretha was dumped at a shelter during the night. Her owner called a few days later and wanted her back so he could sell her instead. So sad. Aretha is now spayed, up to date on shots, and microchipped. She is healthy and wonderful. If you are interested, please email April at apr0227@msn.com.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Aretha, a Portsmouth American Bulldog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Bulldog for sale in Portsmouth, or seeking a American Bulldog dog from a breeder in Portsmouth.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portsmouth already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portsmouth breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Bulldog breeders who help with American Bulldog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portsmouth paves the way for another one to be saved.
