My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Please note: we do not have a physical location, we are supported by a network of wonderful foster homes that are spread throughout New England. A dog will need to be visited by a prospective adopter in the foster home where they are feeling safe and comfortable.**

DOLLY is a gentle dog who is three plus years old and weighs about 30 pounds. She looks like a Manchester Terrier mix. She has a sweet personality. She enjoys the company of people of all ages, although with her energy, she may unintentionally knock a small child down.

Here is a note from her foster Dad: "She is a great little "Pup" and she has been a constant companion of mine, along with my two Golden Retrievers, as I work in my home office. She patiently waits or plays with a toy until I take a break from work. The four of us go outside for the dogs to do their needs, and then walk around the yard to scope out all of the new scents. She is very alert, and does not miss seeing anything that is new or moves, and loves to run after squirrels! She knows how to be on a leash,. She can walk beside you, but may require a tug as a reminder that we are walking together. She has shown us that when she is by the door, she needs to have a short break outdoors to do her business. She understands quiet time, and will be very affectionate by sitting in your lap and will watch TV with you. She is very sociable with other dogs, looks to play, and can run like the wind. She loves bones and balls, and responds eagerly to indoor ball toss and fetch. I believe she will be the star dog in a single dog home, even though she can comfortably live with other dogs."

Dolly loves to play with other dogs, but can play rough, so another dog should be the tolerant type.

Dolly's favorite sleeping spot is on a dog bed on TOP of her crate so she can be fully aware of the comings and goings of the household! She also waits just beyond the kitchen door for her food to be prepared and picked this up with very little prompting. Such a smart girl!

Dolly's foster Mom shares: "Dolly is the happiest dog on Earth! She understands her name, understands 'no' and has mastered her 'sit' before dinner on command. She goes to her crate for 'goodnight' and sleeps the night through. Lately she takes some coaxing with a treat since her preference is now to sleep with us, however she still sleeps the night thru with out fussing. She's very loving, loves sitting in your lap...she has a very soft mouth, and catches treats thrown up in the air with ease! Dolly is a real lovey and wants to be a part of one's life and joins in on any activities with a so happy spirit. She is social with other dogs and loves to play and romp with them."

True to her breed, Dolly is a 'ratter' and thinks of squirrels and chipmunks as 'little varmints'. This precious girl thinks she can climb trees and fly too! But remember the flight risk.

Dolly will make someone a great pet and companion. She is really sweet and funny to watch. Very animated!

Dolly's foster mom says she has now been tested with cats and would need to be in a feline-free home due to her prey drive. Her foster mom says that she is so lovable and that she loves to snooze in her favorite chair! She feels that Dolly was in a home and was trained before. and does not chew inappropriate things. This is not to say shes perfect. She can get into mischief and if food is within reach, she will make an attempt.
