Winston's Story...
Hi there Everybody!!! I'm Winston. I am about 2 years old and I am sure you can guess my breed by looking at me, but just in case you can't, they tell me I'm a beagle/basset mix. Cute, aren't I? I was a stray from the Pulaski, WI area. The animal control woman tried to find my family as she was sure I had one but no one came forward to claim me. Then she tried to find me a home, but still no takers, so she asked HEA for a little help. I've only been with them a few short weeks, but already I have every volunteer wrapped around my little paw. I am such a charmer. Answers to questions I am told get asked often and I need to answer are: yes, I do bark?not all the time just when I want attention, someone new comes that I want to say hello to, or I am playing with my fellow dog friends and I am crate trained, but they think I would need a little work on the housetraining thing, because they aren't sure I was in a house, but I have to say, I am a fast learner! The most important things for you to know is that I am oh so sweet, super friendly, love being handled and given attention, I walk pretty well on leash, I love to play with all my dog friends at the sanctuary, and I LOVE everybody?man, woman, and child. Knowing all these things, why wouldn't you want to adopt me?!?! With much puppy love, Winston

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Winston, a Marion Beagle/Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle/Basset Hound for sale in Marion, or seeking a Beagle/Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Marion.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Marion already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Marion breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle/Basset Hound breeders who help with Beagle/Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Marion paves the way for another one to be saved.
