My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Name: Cooper

Breed: Miniature Pinscher

Sex: Male - neutered

Age: 8 years old

Level of Blindness: Seems unlikely he can can see at all out of the replaced left eye. However, he does appear to see well enough out of his good eye to make up for the other. When you watch him move around, you would not think he had a sight problem at all.

Cause of Eye issues: Accident - particulars unknown

Health Issues:

Weight: 15 lbs. - 14oz.

Good with other dogs: Yes, other than food aggression.

Good with cats: Unknown

Good with Kids: Excellent with my 9 year old granddaughter and 7 year old grandson. There are the only 2 kids I've seen him with in the week that he has been here.

Currently being fostered in: Long Eddy, NY but we will arrange trasnsport to an approved adopter

Information:
It was reported that Cooper lived in a garage for 5 years with another dog. On 10/23/09 he was surrendered by his owners to the Liberty Humane Society, Jersey City, NJ.

On 12/4/09 he was fostered with the intent to adopt by January by an employee of the shelter. During this time he lived in a studio apartment with a Pit Bull and cat. His new Mom stated she works as a dog walker and Copper enjoyed walking approximately 7 hours a day with her and the other dogs. At some point during his stay here, there was an accident, his eye popped out and was surgically replaced. Being true to his breed, he is energetic and has an excellent appetite. He is also very intelligent and although food is a definite distracter, he learns and listens well.

He now lives with several Shih Tzu's and 2 Labs and is somewhere between ignoring to enjoying the companionship. He has not singled out a playmate as of yet but has only been here a week. He has been taken out with the others on a regular schedule and has had no accidents in the house.

Cooper enjoys giving and receiving affection and will be a wonderful addition to any family. If there are any he is crated at night and when I have to go out and does very well with it.
