My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Name: Timbre

Breed: Dachshund

Sex: Male

Age: 3 years

Level of blindness: blind in right eye, normal vision in left eye

Cause of eye issues: unknown trauma

Health issues: none known

Weight: 25 pounds

Good with cats: yes, seems scared of them.

Good with children: he LOVES kids!

Currently being fostered in: Virginia, but we will arrange transport to an approved adopter

Information:
Timbre was rescued from a kill shelter in Texas and will be flown to his foster home in Virginia on 7/11. He is a sweet boy who gets along with everyone! I will update his profile once he's in my arms and I know more about his personality and quirks. I can't wait to meet him!! :-)

Update 7/15/10:
Timbre LOVES to play with his foster brother!! He's settling in great and is proving that he is crate trained and 98% house trained. He is a great passenger in the car and tried to make friends with everyone he met at the vet's office. His eye is very painful and it's unclear what exactly is going on. He has a recheck appointment for Monday 7/19 after being on medication for a few days to see if we can get a better exam. At this point we don't know if he has any vision left or if it can be restored, but either way we'll do what's best for him! Please let us know if you have any questions about this handsome gentleman!!

Update 7/26/10:
So it turns out that Timbre LOVES kids!!! Two neighborhood boys around 10 years old came over a few nights this week and they, Tiger and Timbre played until they practically dropped. He's learning great manners when it comes to eating (sit, wait) and will go straight in the crate when going to bed. Occasionally he'll run the other direction when I say crate just to make sure I'm serious, but he comes right back. :-) We've had zero potty accidents since the last update on 7/15. The update on his eye is that it is an old injury and nothing can be done. We thought it was painful, but turns out he just THOUGHT it would hurt and therefore would get very upset when we tried to look at it. Now he lets me clean it as needed (usually about once a day) and doesn't mind at all. He is such a sweet submissive boy and is the most eager to please dog I've ever had in my care. He's adjusted to everything with total ease and has even changed his mind about the cat! After meeting one in a crate at the vet, he thought maybe he should chase our Clarice. After yelling at hime twice he's never done it again! He just looks at her and keeps going! Just a wonderful boy!!
