Frankie Sinatra is a loving attention-seeking Shepherd mix. He is active and learning some manners. He has adapted himself to the pathways in our home, unless mom leaves something new in the way, that makes it her fault not his. Frankie wants, demands affection. He sits on my left side at my computer so I can pet him and type at the same time. (I learned to type one-handed having three elbow surgeries.) He gets along with all the other dogs in the house-6- but not 1 as he is an intact male and Frankie was only neutered three weeks ago. The vet said it takes as long as 4 months for the testosterone to be cleared from his system. The other intact male cannot be neutered at this time for health reasons. We are hoping in the future he will be able to be as his health improves.
Frankie loves to frolic in the fenced-in backyard and plays with all the other dogs although sometimes misses connections. Our black lab appears to give him some guidance when appropriate. We also have two small lab-mixes (closer to terriers) that runs circles around him and he seems to enjoy it although it appears a little disjointed.
I would suggest a home that has plenty of time to spend with him, manners, affections, discipline, etc. It is hard to tell if he had any of this training before. He is jumpy and excitable but once you rub his belly he lays down and calms down. Will need a firm hand, preferable someone with some knowledge and/or experience with blind/excitable dogs.
I do think that over the long haul he will settle down if only because he has been neutered. Also, because he is receiving affection and lots of socialization.
