My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Approved adopter picks up in Redding
adoption process at
www.sadt.info

Rookie is not your ordinary senior dog
He may be about 10 or so but still has spunk to walk
To play
To snuggle
A bright smart brain very alert and clear eyes
He still has some years left to bond and love
To really get another chance as he had been over looked
For a long time
This cute boy with spirit weighs about 30 pounds
he looks very spiffy after a grooming
but we have not found a gentle great groomer
and one he hopefully would like so he has not had that spiffy groom yet
Only because his personality is so much like that of a male Schnauzer has not lived with dogs and perv owner did not have him around dogs
He loves to chase cats or critters
Has not been around kids off any ages that we know of
Nor petted by many strangers so he can get picky at times and prefers just to be with his people that he knows
He will totally bond if you are a true dog lover as he will know if you are only pretending
He loves kind funny and smart people that adore him but also have rules and structure they follow
He loves a solid routine so he knows what to expect
He can be cockie at times as well as a bit demanding when it comes to petting him
He's fully house trained but when out on walks he did what all the cockie male dogs do leave their mark
He loves to be gently brushed
Loves to catch treats
Loves quality and yummy food
Super in the car
Great on leash but can get a bit stubborn if he wants to sniff something so stops walking but a few tugs and he's back on board
Sadly to say he perv owner was kind of anal about being a dog owner and we do not think there was real love or a real bond between them
He does love us and we live him but his fosters cannot keep him as they are older and have other dogs
Rokkie loves to sit on a lap
Not a big kisser
Not a escaper
Loves to roll in the lawn
Loves to get in the baby pool when it's hot
Prefers the quiet walks over crazy loud places
Has lived in the country the past few years would love similar environment
Would love to live with a loaner type even a hermit be fine as long as you're a true dog lover and take proper care of animals
He is fine in a quiet neighborhood too as long as you are dog experienced and aware of your surroundings
To keep him safe at all times
Rookie knows all basic commands and does them
Also shakes with each leg
If you are ready for a well trained dog that won't chew up your home
That won't have separation anxiety
A dog ready for his last home he can live out his golden years and you will be thankful that you have known him
And deserved his love and trust

He is looking to be his happy self with a happy person that will accept him for who he is without high expectations

Rockie has a wirey coat that's not really rough to the touch but not soft either
nice silver-grey/black/white/brown color easy to groom
it's long right now but can be cut short

He does shed but daily brushing will keep that low as well as cutting the coat shorter

Rocket man has a great smile and wagging tail, love and loyalty for the people he knows well
he will trust the right dog loving folks that don't rush him

he's looking for respect and will give that back once bonded
he will give kisses and jump in your lap and be your happy companion

Once bonded he will allow you to do anything

Rockie is great in car and jumps right in
even a truck that's quit higher then a car but we try to lift him in anything high
prefer a car to make his life easier versus a high truck or a ramp

A 30 minute walk few times a week some throwing of his stuffed toys following you around while you garden or on your property a soft comfy bed and a loving person with a big lap to fit this 30 pounder on it or next to you on the couch watching tv getting petted is what he's looking for

He loves to play with his plush toys which he has many and loves to own many
He is good on a leash never pulls loves to stop sniff and pee like most male dogs
will bark at some passing dogs if allowed will not do it with me as I'm alpha and don't allow it
he's been pretty good about it

I walk him on a 16 foot retractible leash when we go hiking and not near anyone or anything
he loves that freedom
knows basic commands like sit, down, wait, come, leave it, and heel and even shakes
but don't expect him to do that the first day or first month in a new home
unless you are a true dog whisperer

He only barks appropriately and never excessively.
Never destructive and never potties in house.

He is a sweet, lovely dog and is easy to take care of for the person that is in charge and a good gentle leader that knows
if you want respect you must give respect

Rokkie does not need a lot of words or loud crazy commands
he will respond well with quieter commands body language and your energy
he wants a easy going person that's not looking to change and mold him into their expectations

We have many details about Rokkie which we will be happy to share with an approved applicant
we will also be available for the rest of his life
any questions you may have

We like to stay part of his life by getting updates now and then more so while settling in
expect the settling in period to be at least 6 months
as it is with most dogs
most folks are not aware of that and believe it only takes a week

We want Rockie in the right home where he will be welcome
accepted for who he is
very loved and cared for
We love him very much and want a happy ending for both him and his new caretaker

Give him a chance and you will never forget him he will leave a big mark on your heart

Rokkie will come with his toys, harness, neutered and chipped, Rabies current, flea free, on monthly heartworm prevention, he had his teeth cleaned about 2 years ago they look very good
his eyes are clear and alert
he takes a quality daily multi vitamin with probiotic and joint support
Rokkie is on herbal Thyroid support and must continue unless you choose to put him on medication for it
we thought we try the herbs first which he just started a month ago
and see if it does him well
we will see in another few months
the total cost on the thyroid support is under 50 and will last at least 6 months

adoption fee is only $50.00 plus we give you a year supply of HW prevention (A $100.00 value), a DVD with his pics and videos (a $15.00 Value) for the right matching screened home
comes with his nice harness, free vet exam, one free month of pet insurance, tons of good email books, doggie goodie bag
our lifelong help if need be

we are looking for a great match a lonely person for a lonely boy
