My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet darling little Boots! Boots had the misfortume of being dumped in a Utah shelter in late August; her former owners, who had had her since the day she was born, surrendered her to the shelter because she was "too old", and they claimed she was 15 years old. What is that matter with people????

Because of her age and her fear in the shelter environment, shelter staff contacted us for help, and we were able to rescue her just two days before she was scheduled to be euthanized for space. Sweet Boots is oh so grateful to be out of that scary, noisy shelter and soaking up the love in her foster home like a little sponge! We did learn from the shelter that Boots is actually 11.5 years old per her old vet records, and lived her whole life in an outdoor kennel. She has taken to house living like a duck to water though, has picked out her favorite bed, her favorite rawhide and is one very happy girl! She came in with a case of kennel cough, but with good food and some antibiotics, we think she'll be back to her spry old self very soon.

She is in very good shape given her age and having lived outside her whole life; as is typical with dogs her age, she's got a little vision and hearing loss, but it doesn't slow her down a lick. Her foster mom reports that you'd better have comfy shoes on when you take Boots for a walk, because she can stroll for miles! She does have a growth in her ear that we will be getting checked in the near future, and hope that it's just a benign tumor that can be removed, and she'll still have several years of big adventures ahead of her.

We'll post a more complete bio on Boots as she gets feeling better and we learn more about her. She is fostered in a loving home near Casper, WY.
