With a name like Basil, I could be a reserved, cultured English gentleman. I could be….but I’m not reserved or English. Rather, I’m an adult ( 7 or 8 years) Shepherd Mix. The CCA shelter has been my home for a long time, while I’ve been looking for my forever home and my own humans. I’m an educated young man, having received basic schooling at the Connie Cleveland Dog Training Academy. I’m looking for a human or humans who can take me for walks, play with me in a fenced backyard, and just let me lie on the floor beside him/her or them at the end of the day. I’m pretty big and when I play, I can be boisterous, so playmates my own size are fun to have around, but I could be happy just being someone’s sole companion. I need a little time when I first meet new people to get comfortable; however, once we get to know each other, you’ll find that I just want to give you big kisses!

About Concerned Citizens for Animals

About Our Shelter...

CCA was founded in 1980 by a small group of individuals dedicated to helping animals. Since then, our group has grown to include a small shelter which houses approximately 19 dogs and 13 cats. Our group's mission is varied: to maintain a shelter for abandoned, sick or injured animals; to adopt out dogs and cats to loving permanent homes; to provide for their animals low-cost spay/neuter assistance to families who lack the means to pay; and to strive to prevent and to stop abuse and/or neglect of an animal.

We are always in need of volunteers! If you are interested in becoming a part of our group, please let us know by calling 864.243.4222. We'd be glad to have you on board!

Come Meet Our Pets...

Any person interested in adopting an animal from CCA is welcome to visit our shelter; however, we prefer that an appointment be made prior to visiting.

To gain more exposure for our adoptables, CCA participates in the following:

Please check our calendar at Meetup.com/concernedcitizensforanimals for additional adoptions events.

Our Adoption Process...

CCA's adoption process begins with a written application. Upon submission of the application, our Adoptions Team evaluates it, including both personal and vet references. After approval of the application, a home visit is scheduled. If the home visit turns out satisfactorily, we make the adoption. Each adoption is a group decision.

A contract is always signed by both parties. One copy is for the adoptive family, and the other remains at CCA.

The fee for adopting a dog is $100; for cats, the fee is $75. All dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. In addition, they are micro-chipped, are current on all vaccinations, are heartworm negative and on preventative medicine. They are also on monthly preventative medicine for fleas.

Cats are spayed or neutered prior to adoption as well. They are current on vaccinations, and they receive flea preventative medicine as well.

Please note that CCA is an organization of volunteers, many of whom work full-time jobs. While we make every effort to return all calls promptly, please allow up to 24 hours for us to return your call.
