Duchess Annabelle's Story...
Duchess is a 1 yr old Rough Coated Saint Bernard. Her owners gave her up when they could no longer care for her. Duchess is great with other dogs, adores cats and enjoys kids (should probably be with older children though, because she is NOT a graceful girl and could accidentally hurt a small child). At the moment she weighs about 100lbs. and is still growing, when she's all grown up she will likely weigh around 120lbs. She has had all of her vaccines, tested negative for heartworms and will be spayed prior to her adoption. Duchess is totally house broken and crate trained. She does fairly well on a leash, but could use a little more training when it comes to seeing a new dog she would like to meet. Because of her size Duchess needs a home that can provide her with a comfortable amount of space and someone with experience with giant breeds would be great!

As of May 1st 2010 the dog adoption fee is $180.00

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Duchess Annabelle, a Jacksonville St. Bernard dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a St. Bernard for sale in Jacksonville, or seeking a St. Bernard dog from a breeder in Jacksonville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Jacksonville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Jacksonville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even St. Bernard breeders who help with St. Bernard rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Jacksonville paves the way for another one to be saved.
