PARSLEY's Story...
Sweet girl Parsley had two sons. And, she is such a good mother. After the three were abandoned in W. Oakland she continued nursing her two boys until they were close to a year old, which must have been very hard when she too was hungry. Parsley is a docile cat, although quite playful when rough-housing with her son, Thyme. She is so calm that it is hard to believe that she is only 2+ years old. One of her tear ducts was damaged earlier in her life, but the problem is not progressive, nor contagious. It does mean that the area under her eye should be wiped—cotton balls soaked in warm water work nicely as needed. She cooperates and appreciates. Parsley learned the function of laps from someone, so she was probably a pet at one time. She will settle into a new home fairly quickly, eventually becoming a snuggle bunny. We do not know if she has experience with children so a quiet, adult home would be best. Will you give this sweet Parsley and her son Thyme their forever home? They need to be adopted together as they are quite bonded. She is finished with having babies but she'd love to be yours. We estimate she was born in August of 2009. Bio# 2954A KJ

About Our Rescue Group...
ICRA is an all volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the suffering of the abandoned cat population of Alameda and Oakland, and to educate people to their plight. We provide foster homes for our rescues until we can place them into loving homes through our adoption program. On a limited basis, we humanely trap feral cats in order to spay/neuter them before releasing them back to their colonies. Our goal is to expand our program for maintaining cat colonies in our communities. To make this expansion possible, we need more volunteers.
Come Meet Our Pets...
Adoptions are hosted at PETCO, 2310 S. Shore Center, in Alameda's South Shore Center, every Saturday from —
11 am to 4:00 pm

No cats show on major holiday weekends.

Enter the store, head to the right past the registers and straight ahead to the far wall of the store. There is a door there where you will find our cats.

Our Adoption Process...
Potential adopters pick out a cat or kitten and fill out an application.
There will be a short interview with one of our volunteers. Adoptions do not happen the same day. We will arrange a time to visit your home and the foster parents and a volunteer will meet there. Our adoption fee structure is:

  • Cats and kittens (six months to 8 years): $100
  • Cats (over 8 years): $75
  • Two cats: Full amount for the higher amount cat, half amount for the lower amount cat

    For example: a kitten and an adult would be: $100 + $50 = $150

Prior to Adoption all cats and kittens are:

  • Spayed or neutered
  • FeLV and FIV tested
  • FVRCP vaccinated
  • De-wormed, and
  • Treated for fleas with Advantage or Frontline
