Moluccan Cockatoo

Anika is a female Moluccan Cockatoo who is approximately 11 years old. She, like all Moluccans, sports a brilliant flamingo colored crest accompanied by white body feathers with a pale salmon hue. Moluccans are the largest of the white cockatoo species. Anika is a little stand-offish at first. She doesn't trust immediately. However she is very affectionate with her foster Dad. Anika likes to stand on top of her cage and observe the world. Since she hasn't been in foster care that long there isn't too much to tell at this moment regarding his disposition toward other people and her preferred habits. Mollucans are known to have one of the loudest parrot calls. In general they are very intelligent and should be nurtured by providing plenty of mental stimuli and training with lots and lots of toys. Chunks of untreated wood are especially fun for these guys. Owning this type of bird requires a special person with a lot of time and attention to give. Mollucans are the most sensitive of the cockatoos. They also require the largest cages of all the parrots. She needs a play stand when out of her cage. Anika has a magnificent full feather presentation. She has plucked her thighs in the past, as is the case with many Mollucans. There is no evidence that Anika has plucked recently. Mollucans can live to be about 70-80 years old and therefore have a lifetime of love to give you!
