Billy's Story...
Billy is a happy, gentle, sweet, and reserved, seven-year-old, 15-pound, male, miniature Schnauzer looking for a loving home. Billy was found as a stray in Chicago and was lucky to get out of a cage at the shelter and into a wonderful foster home. This handsome guy loves going on walks, is great on leash, and enjoys rides in the car. He is housebroken and doesn’t even need a crate. He is living in a foster home where he has proven himself well-behaved, and polite with other dogs. He has no destructive chewing or digging problems. Schnauzers are hypoallergenic and don’t shed so this breed is great for allergy sufferers. He is a constant companion to his foster mommy … following her around the house and garden. He doesn’t appear to know any formal commands, but he does take treats very gently from your fingers. Billy can get a bit growly and nippy when provoked or picked up, so he would be best in a house without children. Billy is healthy, de-wormed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on preventative, and is scheduled to be neutered on September 21st. His adoption fee of $65 benefits the Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control. To meet and possibly adopt Billy, please contact Gretchen at tall_gretchen@yahoo.com or 773-472-4021.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Billy, a Chicago Schnauzer (Miniature) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Schnauzer (Miniature) for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Schnauzer (Miniature) dog from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Schnauzer (Miniature) breeders who help with Schnauzer (Miniature) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
