Gerti's Info...

I am already spayed, purebred, up to date with shots, and good with dogs.

Gerti's Story...
Gerti needs a foster home! She was found by a good samaritan family in Lowndes Couty. She was lost and pregnant. They took Gerti in and took care of her while she cared for her new babies. Then they found homes for the babies but couldn't find a home for Gerti. She wound up at the pound. Lucky for Gerti, BHRG was called and she is now headed to the vet to be spayed and undergo treatment for heartworms. She should be ready for adoption sometime in late September. Gerti is a 2-ish tri-colored girl who has a pretty face. She rode well in the car on her 4 hour trip to Atlanta, and really wants to be part of a forever family.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Gerti, a Marietta Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound for sale in Marietta, or seeking a Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Marietta.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Marietta already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Marietta breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound breeders who help with Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Marietta paves the way for another one to be saved.
