Adonis's Story...
Adonis was a true rescue for Paw Placement, he came into Maricopa Animal Care and Control as a stray in FULL body mange, this was a certain death sentence for him, so we redefined beauty with him and named him after the beautiful Greek god himself
We took him with no hesitation because he was so friendly and quite an interesting looking dog
But with his extremly painful long term medical issue he has been in foster care for almost 8 months, and has endured daily medications/weekly baths/and every two week skin scrapings waiting to be deemed "Healthy" from his vet,
he is finally there and ready for adoption
When he came to us he had NO fur, his skin was almost black in decay
Now he has all his fur back, his skin is a normal color and hes no longer in pain/discomfort
and he has turned out to be the most wonderful-Goofy boy
Hes playful/energetic/loving
Hes wonderfully potty and doggie door trained
Hes crate trained
is good on a leash in public, loves everyone !!!!
Because Adonis has not been around kids that we know of and because of Adonis's powerful muscular build we recomend he go to a home with kids 10 yrs of age and older, because Adonis is a powerfully strong player
Hes very playful with other dogs
and at the end of the night, he loves to snuggle next to you in bed.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Adonis, a Scottsdale Basset Hound/Shar Pei dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound/Shar Pei for sale in Scottsdale, or seeking a Basset Hound/Shar Pei dog from a breeder in Scottsdale.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Scottsdale already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Scottsdale breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound/Shar Pei breeders who help with Basset Hound/Shar Pei rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Scottsdale paves the way for another one to be saved.
