My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

http://www.valleydogs.org/cp_sadie.html -- SADIE is a 2 ½ year old spayed female PIT/LAB mix who loves people and is always in the mood for a belly rub.

Sadie was dumped in the parking lot of a manufacturing business when she was about 4 months old. She went to her current home where she has lived for the last 2 years with as many as 7 other dogs of varying sizes and ages. All went well until the alpha male of the group passed away and she began to reach her sexual maturity. She is trying to establish herself as the alpha female since there is not an alpha male in the home. Issues have been with the other females in the home. The 2 small (under 18 lbs) submissive male dogs and she get along well. Her issues are pack balance related, not dog specific. A testament to this is she does GREAT at doggie day care. She runs and plays with all the dogs of all ages and sex.

Sadie is current on all of her shots and county licensing. She is house trained and is comfortable sleeping in her crate. She has not shown any signs of separation anxiety but she has lots of energy and expects a good play or walk after down time. Her favorite games are soccer or lizard hunting. On cooler days she enjoys a run alongside a bicycle and loves to relax with a coat brushing.

She has spent time in doggie day care (Camp Bow Wow – Avondale) and happily plays with the other dogs. She has been boarded for vacations without showing any signs of stress and travels well in a car.

She has not lived with cats but exhibits a strong chase impulse when she encounters them on her walks. She still needs additional training on a leash as she tends to pull. She is highly motivated by treats and praise so it won’t take her much time to learn any command.

She loves all people and she will probably offer her belly for a good rub immediately. She would do best with older children (10yrs) due to her level of energy. This girl is smart and eager to please so continued training and a strong leader essential.
