Gus's Story...
Gus (male)
I am fostering a beautiful year-old English Springer Spaniel male ready for adoption. Liver and white in color, approx 50lbs. Beautiful natural (undocked) tail. Very sweet, loves everyone, gets along with big and small dogs, loves water, loves to fetch and play with toys. Carries a toy around all the time, wagging his tail, coming around to show you the toy so you can tell him how wonderful he is. He loves to chew on rawhides, but doesn’t chew up other stuff and doesn’t destroy his toys. He is a good boy. Housetrained, healthy, neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, has been on preventative since puppyhood.
This is a very active sporting breed, so he needs a LOT of exercise. He is a young dog, so he needs obedience training. Spaniels have hairy ears and feathering, so he will need regular brushing and ear cleaning. He loves mud, and is a messy drinker, so if that bothers you, don't apply. He wants to be close to his people and get attention, so if you don't have the desire to spend time giving training and affection and exercise and grooming, then don't apply (for any dog, much less this one).
No renters, no military, no families with toddlers or that will be having babies in the future. Must have a good-sized fenced-in yard. You are looking at a 15 year commitment to this dog, so only serious applicants need apply. Send email with info about your family and why you think you are a great match for this dog. Adoption fee $150.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Gus, a Haughton English Springer Spaniel dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a English Springer Spaniel for sale in Haughton, or seeking a English Springer Spaniel dog from a breeder in Haughton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Haughton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Haughton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even English Springer Spaniel breeders who help with English Springer Spaniel rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Haughton paves the way for another one to be saved.
