My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Precious little Emily is a beautiful, shy little gal that is looking for someone to dote on her—plenty of kisses, treats, and toy mice are what Emily craves! Grey, approximate date of birth 6/1/10.

The first step in adopting would be to come by our facility to meet our cats and kittens in person to see if the animal that you are interested in is a good match for you—after all, a very large part of the adoption process is based on finding the right chemistry. There are a lot of good people, and a lot of good animals, but that doesn't mean that they automatically go together and selecting the right animal for your particular household is a very personal decision.

We are located inside of East Lake Veterinary Hospital at 10101 E. Northwest Hwy in Dallas (just north of White Rock Lake, or just east of the Northwest Highway/Audelia intersection). ELPO team members are available Sundays 10 AM until 3 PM, Mondays 3 PM until 6 PM, Tuesdays through Fridays from 11 AM until 6 PM, and Saturdays from 10 AM until 3 PM. Appointments for potential adopters are also sometimes available between 6 PM and 8 PM on weekday evenings by calling 214-349-ELPO (3576). Select option #8 to leave a message and we will return your call to set up after hours appointment during the week.

After meeting with our orphans, if you find an animal that you feel is right for your family, you will then need to fill out an adoption application. After submission of an adoption application, the animal is placed on hold until 5 pm on the following business day (processing of an adoption application can take up to two business days). Once an adoption is approved, you will be notified by telephone. There is an adoption agreement to be filled out and a goody bag for us to review before sending any of the orphans home.

The adoption donation for felines is $135.00 (there is a $20 discount on the total donation if you adopt two or more orphans at the same time). At the time of adoption, each orphan is spayed or neutered, tested for FIV (feline "AIDS") and FeLV (feline leukemia), has had a full veterinary exam, age appropriate vaccinations, deworming treatments, microchipping, and additional treatments as needed on an individual basis.

Additional questions about the adoption process, or an orphan listed on our website, can be directed to us by e-mail at elpo@welovepets.net or by phone at 214-349-ELPO (3576). Adoptee information is updated several times each week, though we recommend calling before you visit to confirm availability of any animal you might be interested in.
