Charlie's Story...
Charlie is an extremely handsome and very friendly young boy about 1 year old. He gets along with everyone and has been socialized with men, women, children and other dogs. Charlie is even friendly with the cats, but needs to learn boundaries as they are not play toys, but active family members. Charlie has a sweet disposition, but is still puppy so he will require obedience. He is crate trained, working on house manners and takes treats nicely. He does okay on lead, but needs to continue to learn to walk better. He loves to chase the kong ball, but gives up easily as he knows he is no match for his foster sibililng, Stella (who is the champ at getting the ball and bringing it back). He loves to chew on compressed rawhides and will do great in a family situation. He will also do wonderful as a running partner and hiking, walking, swimming and other activities with an active family member. Charlie is neutered, heartworm negative, up to date on all vaccinations and micro chipped. He is also kept on flea and tick prevention. If you are interested in adopting this wonderful young boy, please fill out an online application and request him on the notes section.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Charlie, a Salem Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Salem, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Salem.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Salem already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Salem breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Salem paves the way for another one to be saved.
