Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Birmingham is the awesomest of the awesome! He is a terrific dog that is incredibly affectionate and obedient. He loves direction and will need a home that understands that he will thrive with a guardian that takes the lead. He loves his human friends and is the kind of dog that will sit up next to you watching the clouds go by or chilling with you on a nice moonlit night. He is up for a good adventure too and will love taking hikes or road trips. He walks wonderfully on leash. As you can see on the video, he loves to play with other dogs. He and his buddy, Pogo, love to play chase and romp and run in the yard. Birmingham is picky about his dog friends and would be best suited in home where he is the only dog, but if you have another dog we would certainly introduce them and see if they are compatible.
Birmingham was on the euthanasia list at a rural South Carolina shelter when we rescued him. We had met Birmingham several times and had experienced what a great “people dog” he is, but had reservations about him getting along with the other dogs in our rescue, but he has done wonderfully here away from the stress and overcrowded conditions of the shelter and we know he is deserving of a chance at a real home.
Birmingham was listed by the shelter as an “Alabama water dog”. We googled that and found out that an Alabama water dog is a type of salamander…hmmm…
We think he is part staffie and part greyhound. He is smaller than most American Staffordshire terriers but has that breed’s character trait of a strong desire to please his humans. His beautiful grey-blue brindle coat is indicative of his greyhound, or perhaps whippet, heritage.
Please come meet Birmingham and you can see for yourself what an amazing dog he is!
Birmingham is just over a year old and weighs 47 lbs. He has been neutered and is up to date on all shots and is microchipped. He is crate trained and housebroken.
