Mudd's Story...
We need your help. Our sweet Mr. Mudd has been diagnosed with OCD of the shoulder. We started noticing some limping not too long ago so we took him to one of our wonderful vet who has confirmed that Mudd will soon need to be operated on. OCD is a cartilage problem that affects young large and giant breed dogs. It is due to several factors including genetics, trauma, rapid growth, and nutrition. Treatment in severe cases like Mr. Mudd's requires surgical removal of the damaged cartilage. At the moment Mr. Mudd needs a quite foster home (not one with multiple dogs eager to play like most of us at LFS have) where he can rest and recover after the surgery. If you were thinking of fostering for us, now is the time! No need to have a large back yard since Mudd will only be allowed leash walks for a while.

We also need any help we can in paying for the surgery which is costing us over $1000.. Any donation, even a few dollars will help us get Mr. Mudd back to wrestling with his friends. For donations follow the instructions at http://www.labradorfriends.com/fundraisers.htm or email us at labfriendinfo@gmail.com

Mudd is approx. 7 months old. He was picked up as a stray. He loves to play with other dogs (large and small) and is fine with cats also. Mudd is also good with small children

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mudd, a Cumming Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Cumming, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Cumming.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Cumming already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Cumming breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Cumming paves the way for another one to be saved.
