My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

11/15 Update: Soldier is waiting for his forever home to come find him. He is such a loving boy. He thinks he is a lap dog, and wants to spend all day cuddled next to his people. He is not fond of being left home by himself and hopes to find a home where there are people home much of the day. He just loves all people and wants to be near people as much as possible, which is pretty amazing given how some people treated him so poorly in the past. He is presently in a foster home with another dog, a cat and two teenage kids. He is learning to adapt to life in a home environment which has been something new for him.

You see, prior to coming into rescue, Soldier lived his entire life kept outside, in a small, filthy pen, with nothing but a dirt floor and a small dog house. He was used as part of a dog breeding operation. He existed with minimal shelter from the brutal blizzards during the winter and heatwaves during the summer. He and other dogs were seized by the authorities as part of a neglect case.

Despite his past, Soldier maintained a super personality and is such a wonderful boy who deserves far more than what he was ever given. Everyone that meets Soldier comments on what a handsome and sweet boy he is. His photos don’t do him justice at all. You need to meet him in person to appreciate both his beauty and temperament. He is a striking brindle with a gorgeous black mask! He is really easy going and is so deserving of a loving home to call his own. He is totally housebroken, he is not a big barker, is calm and relaxed in the car and just so appreciative to have a person petting him and telling him what a good boy he is. His favorite activity is going for walks…of course with lots of treats on hand, helping to add a few needed pounds to his waist. Since he has come into rescue you can see him wiggling and giving more kisses with each passing day. It is just so great to see him come out of his shell and be a goofy, playful boxer which he never got to do in the past.

He loves every person and dog that he meets. He also seems just fine with cats. He will fit into any home that wants to give him a comfy bed to sleep on and lots of love and affection. If you are interested in learning more about adopting Soldier, or would consider fostering him until he finds the perfect forever home, won’t you please contact us? Once you meet this wonderful dog you will wonder how anyone could have left him in the conditions that he had endured in the past.
