Stanley's Story...
Hello, my name is Stanley! I am a Maltese cross who is about 8 months old and 13 pounds. My foster mom says I'm very laid-back considering I'm hanging out with another dog, 3 cats and 2 children! One of the cats isn't too sure about me, but that's not my fault! I've been gentle with the kids (though I'm a bit anxious about my food) and romp a bit with my new dog friend. We walk together on a shared leash and I'm very well behaved. I bark rarely, and I'm a total cuddlebug. I'm already working on sit and wait, and I watch my foster brother for what to do. I'm not 100% sure about house-training yet, but I'm working on it. I'm only a puppy after all! I hope I'm the perfect dog for you...I'm feeling lucky!

Please note that Little Mutts Rescue adoption fees are generally $400 for adults, $200 for dogs over 8 years old and $450 for puppies. Includes spay / neuter, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchip, and a vet certificate of health (please note that if puppies are born in Calgary, we do not have a vet certificate to provide). If you are interested in adopting, please submit an adoption application at

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Stanley, a Calgary Maltese puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maltese for sale in Calgary, or seeking a Maltese puppy from a breeder in Calgary.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Calgary already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Calgary breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maltese breeders who help with Maltese rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Calgary paves the way for another one to be saved.
