My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thank you for visiting Madeline! By choosing to adopt a dog through C.A.R.E.S., you are not only giving a wonderful dog a forever home, but you are allowing us to rescue another dog on death row. You are also choosing to support a true no-kill rescue organization. Thank you!.

Look at that face! Madeline is a purebred Basset Hound, about 2-3 years old, weighing in at 34#. She came to us via Nebraska, where she was abandoned by her owners, along with 20 other animals. She had just had a litter of puppies—the puppies were all found dead. Madeline is in a much better place now, but she has a lot of things to forget about her past before she will be whole again.

Madeline is good with other dogs and cats. She is very timid around new people and children. We do not recommend her for children under 5 because of this timid behavior. Once she trusts you, she is quite playful and silly.

She is housetrained and crate trained. She loves to go for walks and she cannot get enough couch time with lots and lots of petting!

As with all hounds, a fenced-in yard is a requirement for adoption. Please call Madeline's foster mom, Lynn, for specific questions about her at 651-784-3079.

Who wants to give Madeline the lifetime of love and affection she deserves?

This dog's adoption fee is $265 (plus tax). This includes being spayed/neutered, current on Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella vaccinations, wormed, microchipped with the HomeAgain microchip, heartworm tested (negative) and medicated during the heartworm season (May-Dec) while in our care, comes with a Gentle Leader headcollar (if we feel it is needed), and is currently learning Basic Obedience commands and good doggie manners.

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an application. If you'd like to have an application emailed to you, just email us. Thank you!
