My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lucky - male, vet checked, vaccinated to date inclu. Rabies, neutered, 3yrs, ~10lbs, Toy Poodle.

Being a Toy Poodle Lucky is non-shedding and may be ideal for allergy sufferers. This also means he needs regular grooming both at home and at the groomers. The best plan is to have him groomed about every 8 weeks and maintain a puppy cut to keep his coat free of painful matting and tangles.

Lucky used to be the apple of his owners eye until the family and family business began to grow. His owners no longer have time for him.

Lucky is a very social and out going, he loves to meet new people and visit new places with his family, he is great with other dogs and children of all ages, he has not been around cats but considering he is about the size of a house cat we think he’d be fine. Due to the fact that Lucky seems to require so much one on one attention from humans we feel he is better suited to a home with older kids (8yrs+) that can spend time brushing him, playing with him and walking him. He is best suited to a home with another dog or where someone is home most of the time. He can be needy for attention and will sometimes whines for attention or will jump up on your lap to be with you. The more exercise and play time that Lucky receives the more relaxed he is in and around the home. Even though he is a Toy Poodle he is active and loves to go for walks or play time at the dog park. Lucky has a Luxating Patella which is typical for smaller dogs. It rarely bothers him, he is not on any medication for it and runs and jumps just fine. Ideally Lucky can be on Glucosamine supplements (available from your local General Nutrition store or pet store) and his family makes sure he maintains a healthy weight as time goes on. Lucky also loves to cuddle, get lots of ear scratches and be brushed, in his world pretty much any attention is good attention. He would be a fantastic companion to a mature couple or single person that is looking for a constant buddy and can spend lots of time with him. Lucky in the past has traveled with his owner to work and enjoys meeting new people and going for car rides. Lucky has not had any formal training but knows a few basics like sit, no, off, crate… obedience classes with his new adopter wouldn’t be a bad idea, Poodles are smart and love to learn. He can be a little vocal (whimpers or yips) when wanting attention but Lucky is not yappy, he really only barks when someone is at the door. He is house trained and crate trained but is also fine given free roam of his home. Lucky is really best suited to a house with a fenced yard where he can run around and play.
