My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Willy grew up in a puppymill that was closed down by the state, and all the dogs were seized and sent to shelters. Willy couldn't be adopted because he was scared of everything so he came to rescue in hopes he could learn to trust people and be someone's pet. It has been a long road for “Wild Willy” and he still has a ways to go. Willy doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body. Even when he was cringing at the back of his crate and his foster mom had to crawl in to drag him out, he never displayed aggression. His feet were damaged by growing up in a wire bottom cage, so he is not up to long distance walks. He finds being outside scary, but he is OK as long as a person is with him. Willy is fairly housebroken, but left unattended he may still have "accidents." He knows the command "go outside" and will run out the dog door, although he’s usually in such a hurry to get back in that he has to be sent out again. He does not really play with other dogs but does like toys. Willy is around 20 lbs. and 3 years old. He needs an experienced person willing to give the time, love, and patience he needs to become a best friend.

OUR ADOPTION FEE is $150 ($175 for puppies younger than 12 months; $200 for American Hairless Terriers).

IS THIS DOG AVAILABLE? If the bio above doesn't say that there's an adoption pending, then YES! he or she IS available. As soon as we approve an application, we'll post it, so you will NOT get more current info by emailing us to ask if the dog is available. To "get in line" to adopt or get more details, you MUST CLICK HERE to submit an Adoption Application.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS DOG?
The email address on this page is for website-related issues ONLY. For answers to specific questions about a particular dog, you MUST submit an Adoption Application! That is the only way to access the fosterparent for this particular dog, who is the only person who can answer specifics about this dog's personality or geographic location. (Our dogs are located in private fosterhomes around the state, and we do not provide those addresses on the Internet or to casual inquiries, and you cannot just "drop by" to see a dog without prearranging it with the fosterhome.) Because we are an all-volunteer organization and receive a very high volume of inquiries, we can only respond personally to people who have demonstrated a serious interest in adoption by filling out our application.
