My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Moses. I got my new name yesterday when I got picked up from the shelter. (They said, “Holy Moses, he’s huge!) They told me I was going to be “put down” that night, but no one ever insulted me once! I’m not sure what they meant by that, but I’m sure happy I’m out of there!

Unfortunately, I got REALLY sick while I was at the shelter and I have shoe string slobber, sneezes and I’m coughing quite a bit. I feel horrible! I’m also about 25 pounds overweight and need to get on a “serious” diet. I’m really not looking forward to the diet since I LOVE food and treats so much. At 5 years old, my body feels like it’s 55 and my back is so curved from my weight that my belly drags on the floor. I don’t mind it since I can scratch my belly all the time, but I sure get tired easily.

I really like the little kids here at my foster home, the other dogs and the cats are really funny. I am crazy about the hugs and loving and boy oh boy did I love the bath I had yesterday! It felt so good. I snuggled right into my comfy warm bed and fell right asleep afterwards. My foster Mom is taking me to the vet tomorrow morning; she says that the Dr. will help me to feel lots better and that I’ll be able to socialize more through the house and go to the dog park with the other foster dogs living here! I can’t wait!

Update 12/18/05 - Wow! I am feeling sooooo much better these days! I’m done with my medication!! I can walk miles and running is a blast!!! Mom says it looks like I don’t have legs and just have wrists and giant paws! She giggles when I run or gallop. Okay, so I’m stubby, so what!?!? I can keep up with the rest of ‘em and I bet I could even out run the humans in the house if I tried! I love to smile and wag my tail like crazy! My sleep positions are quite unique with my front legs and back legs at my sides; you’d have to adopt me to see my seal impression! I have already been caught a lot stealing food from the table and I do like to chew on just about anything eatable that’s on the floor, but I’m learning what I can and can’t chew on and I’ve been staying out of the garbage cans as well. I enjoy the rawhides quite a bit and jumbones keep me busy as well. Those are so yummy! I get along very well with the younger kids, but they are the right height for my mouth to gently reach food from their hands, and my foster Mom isn’t real excited about that, but I’m learning now that I have to keep my distance while the lil’ ones are eating. I stay on my bed and gaze at them with my droopy sweet eyes until they feel guilty enough to give me something when their Mom’s not in the room.

The cats and I get along wonderfully too! Petty time is great because the cats and I roll over together and get belly scritches at the same time. Cats are a lot like dogs really, just with weird lookin’ ears! I’d still prefer to be around my dog buddies though. I love to hang around with my fellow tail wagers! Mom put me in this little shirt since I was developing a bald spot on my chest from being so low to the ground and rubbing my fur off. I think I look rather dashing in it!

Update 12/23/05 - I went to the Dr. and got a dental cleaning and my teeth feel so much better and are a beautiful white. I also got my nails trimmed while I was sleeping and I get another bath this week! I’m still 70 pounds, but my New Years resolution is to walk around the block and hit the dog park a bit more to try to get my figure back. I’m also on this “Lite” food now and it really has no smell or taste, so I’ll have to give these people a talking to about that. Other than the food, I am lovin’ the good life!! It’s sure better here than that tiny cage I was in just a couple weeks ago at that smelly dog hotel
.

Well, from what I’ve been hearing, I’m easy to fall in love with and the funniest little guy in town, so give me a buzz! I’d LOVE to meet you!
