I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.
We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.
Oreo is a purebred shih tzu who was surrendered to rescue by a family who was unable to care for him. He is a year old and weighs 12 pounds, and once his coat grows out he will be beautiful, oops, handsome! Oreo spent a lot of time in a closet during his first year, and as a result, he is a little shy at first. He will do best with an experienced dog owner who has another dog to show him the ropes and he is fine with cats. Oreo is house trained on a schedule and is crate trained. Gentle, respectful children 10 and older would be fine and Oreo would do best with someone home much of the time to continue his socialization. He is with a 501c3 non profit rescue. His $300 adoption fee covers his neuter, professional grooming, heartworm test and pill, shots, worming, and HomeAgain microchip.
To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption.
