My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lucy is a black and white, short-haired tuxedo female who was born in 2004. She had a rough life (involving tail-pulling and teasing followed by life in a basement) before she came to her foster home. And yet, this resilient girl craves attention and affection, and simply loves people! Lucy immediately took to her foster parents, who think she is a sweetie pie.

Lucy has a lot of personality and energy, and she loves to chase toys on the end of a string. She is self-sufficient alone at home during the day but loves that moment when you comes home and say, "Let's play!" Lucy is re-learning the joys of The Lap, along with getting ear and chin scratches. She's not crazy about being picked up but is slowly learning to trust being off her feet. With time and patience, Lucy will be a super loving girl once she and her trust-o-meter settle into a permanent home with wonderful people.

Lucy is very alert and smart, communicates well, and learns quickly. She loves a window to look outside but has never been outdoors. She is not shy about asking you to stay and play longer, and is delighted to “help” you work at the computer (i.e., she lays across the space between you and the keyboard, then looks at you with adoring green eyes). She has a sweet, ladylike purr but might get a little worked up if you try to rub her tummy. Her foster people think she will relax nicely, once she is confident about her people and surroundings.

Lucy's ideal forever home would allow her to be a permanent, indoor-only kitty. She does not get along with other cats, and would like to be an only child, please. Due to her history with and dislike of teasing, she will do best in a home without young children.

Lucy, like all ARCF cats for adoption, has been spayed, microchipped, is up to date on vaccines, and has tested negative for FeLV and FIV.

If you are interested in meeting Lucy, please fill out the "I'm interested" form at our website, and our adoption coordinator will respond promptly. Please note that we place cats in the following counties only: Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas and Clark.

Animal Rescue & Care Fund, Inc. is a small rescue organization. We rescue homeless animals only, and do not accept owner-surrendered pets. All our animals live with volunteers in their homes until they are matched with the right permanent family. Thank you for considering one of our pets for adoption.
