My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MALAIA (ID #A018192) is a gorgeous brown mixed-breed spayed female rabbit. She is strikingly beautiful with a cocoa brown coat dotted with tan highlights. She was in a bonded situation so is very amenable to bonding. She's a little timid, but very sweet, and very intelligent. She doesn't mind being held and petted once you can catch her. She will really blossom in a home where she's handled and treated like the queen that she is! Malaia is currently in foster care due to special dietary needs. Please contact us at info@petprojectfoundation.org or call 949-595-8899 if you'd like to arrange a meeting with her.

Please review this very informative rabbit intro video before you adopt:

Starting the adoption process you need to be 18 years or older, complete an application http://www.petprojectfoundation.org/small.pdf, and be interviewed. It is strongly recommended that: 1) all members of your household interact with the rabbit to make the best match for everyone (our rabbit experts will be available to help with this ONLY on Saturday and Sunday afternoons), 2) the rabbit you wish to adopt be an indoor rabbit only, and 3) we will be able to verify with your landlord that you may have a pet if you are renting. Understand we reserve the right to deny the adoption of any pet for any reason. Also any additional requirements for the specific pet you are interested in adopting need to be met. We adopt to the best home, not necessarily the first application submitted.

Applications are only accepted by FAX (949-366-4765), mail or in person. Sorry, no applications through the Internet.

Come and talk with our volunteer rabbit experts on either Saturday or Sunday afternoon about the unique personalities of each of our wonderful rabbits. Also, if you are interested in finding a companion for an indoor rabbit you currently have, we can help with the bonding process. Our rabbit experts can be contacted at rabbits@petprojectfoundation.org for details on this free service, or any questions you may have. We have many bonding success stories - yours may be one too!

Rabbit adoptions are $45 each and include a spay/neuter, microchip, checkup by a qualified rabbit veterinarian, litter-box training, copy of The House Rabbit Handbook, "New Owner" folder, bag of Timothy hay and pellets, and one free basic health examination within 5 days of adoption from a veterinarian on our list. Our rabbits are fed the diet recommended by the House Rabbit Society.

Rabbits make excellent pets. They are intelligent, social animals capable of forming lifelong bonds with their human companions. Whether housed in a small apartment or a spacious home, the quiet, well-mannered house rabbit will be a welcome addition. Their playful antics will warm your heart for years to come. A well-cared-for house rabbit can a lifespan of seven to ten years or longer.

Please call 949-595-8899 to check if your desired pet is still available. Best days to view and adopt rabbits are ONLY Saturday 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM and Sunday 12:00 Noon - 3:00 PM. We are very proud of our shelter, it is clean, welcoming, freeway close, and was voted "Best Place to Adopt" by the Orange Coast Magazine!
