Pickles's Story...
Wonder how I got my name? Well I have been a little sour in the past but don't worry I really am a friendly and outgoing guy. I am pretty easy going, everything makes me happy- well except going to the doctor, I am not found of all the poking and prodding. Thats how I ended up at Family Dogs, the last shelter I was at had to clean out my eyes I was a bit uncomfortable with that, so I snapped at them. I am not a mean boy though- quite the opposite. Come in and meet me I am sure we will be friends. 5 years old-15lbs. My adoption fee is $160 and includes; current shots, microchip, neuter , 5 week Training Class, free veterinary exam ,1 month pet health insurance, leash/collar, food sample, toy & Treat packet.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Pickles, a Portland Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Portland, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
