Elsi's Story...
Meet Elsi, she is a 11 month old black and tan female GSD. Elsi was admitted to our local shelter because her owners had a baby on the way and no time for Elsi. She weighs in at 55 pounds, but she has some weight to gain and filling out to do as she's quite young still. She should reach 60-65 pounds at maturity. Elsi has attended obedience in her past and knows sit, down, stay and come. She is a very sweet girl and will roll on her back for belly rubs. Elsi is currently living with other dogs in her foster home and is doing well with all of them. She loves to play and chase is her favorite game with the other dogs. She is very quick and athletic so and active home would be preferred for Elsi.

Update 11.18.10
Elsi has been in foster care for about four weeks now and began to truly show us her personality. Elsi is a very active and athletic girl and would excel in any dog sport. She loves to run, will play fetch (and bring it back!) and also enjoys going for walks. She is a sweet, loving girl who at the end of the day will melt in her foster mom's arms and cuddle as long as you will allow her. She occupys herself with toys and chew bones and just wants to be near her people. She came into foster care very thin and she has has put on some much needed, healthy weight. We are looking to add about 5-7 more pounds which would bring her to about 60lbs which is a great weight for smaller framed, female German Shepherd Dog.

When Elsi arrived we noticed some "aloofness" with men. She is overcoming this and getting much more comfortable with males in the house but will need to continue to have positive experiences with men. She was raised with children and continues to do well. Elsi thinks cats are her personal play toys and she can be rough so we are requesting that she does not go to a home with cats.

Elsi is young, active, beautiful, loving and smart and is looking for her perfect forever home

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Elsi, a Rochester/Buffalo German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Rochester/Buffalo, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Rochester/Buffalo.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Rochester/Buffalo already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Rochester/Buffalo breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Rochester/Buffalo paves the way for another one to be saved.
