My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Greetings from Chicago English Bulldog Rescue (CEBR FOR SHORT). Don’t be fooled by our name, we cover a very large Midwest territory. Become a fan of Chicago English Bulldog Rescue on Facebook to learn more about our charitable work and get daily updates with our adoptable bullies!

NAMED LIKE A DEVIL BUT DEFINITELY AN ANGEL!

Hola amigos! My name is Diablo and I’m the cutest, shortest, compact(ist) – is that even a word – little brindle bully boy you ever did see. I’m 6 years old, neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm free and will come to your home with a microchip transfer. I’m also house trained! But of course!

You see, my parents loved me dearly but are going thru a divorce and with a new baby in the house, I was just too much for them. They were working 12 hour days and I was alone all of the time. I was so sad. So very, very sad. So they did the right thing and they called CEBR and I made my way to Illinois from Ohio! The road trip was exhausting but well worth the trip.

Even though, I have small little legs and a small body for my age I have lots of LOVE to give! My body size is my unique trait. I may look like a tiny bully, but have the strength and power of any of my larger bulldog pals! Sometimes I need help going up the stairs, but once I get running I do pretty well! These little legs ---whew! I have to work twice as hard to go half the distance! Whoa! Hold on everyone. Slow down!!!!!!!!!

I like to sleep-in every morning. No early risers for me thank you. And if you are an early riser, don’t expect me to be! According to my original mom and dad, I was like this from the time I was a pup. I appreciate a nice long night’s sleep and a leisurely start to my day. I also like short neighborhood walks, but I’m no speed-walker or marathon walker.

I could use a little help learning not to be toy possessive. When I was much younger there was another child in the house. That kid used to steal my toys from me all of the time and taunt me with them. Well of course I am a little protective of my toys now. It’s a hard habit to break. So you have to be cognizant of this and work with me appropriately so there aren’t any issues. Over time and with training, I would love to learn the “trade me” command so I don’t have to worry about getting grouchy over my toys. Baby steps right? I also spook with really loud noises, like the hair dryer or vacuum! YOOOOWZZZAAAAAAAAAH!

My perfect forever home would be one that will let me roam the house! I’m not crate trained so I prefer to have the luxury of the house or at least just a room with a baby gate. I really don’t care much about other dogs either way. They probably would keep me company, but I’m pretty chill with or without them. My foster family has two other doggies and I only play with them when I feel the need to let some energy out. Otherwise then I prefer to have my own space.

Because I spent the last years home alone all day every day, CEBR will only send me to a home where there is someone around all of the time. I want my attention and deserve it too. Older children would be fine. Cats too.

Thanks for reading about me. Adios!

Diablo
