Oscar's Story...
My names Oscar, but I’m no grouch (ok maybe a little) I mean I am a Dachshund after all! I do get along with other dogs just fine, but I want them to know who runs this show. I’m not sure about cats yet, but I sure do like to bark at them when I see them out on walks! I have lived with children before, but it’s best if I don’t live with them if they are under 11 years old. I just don’t always trust strangers ya know, and I like to be handled with respect. I’m truly a happy little guy with a spunky personality….Oh, and I love to play with toys! I do well with my housebreaking, as long as you get me outside often enough, plus I am totally crate trained, walk nicely on leash and I like to ride in the car. I am the perfect little companion for a low traffic home! 7 years old-14lbs. My adoption fee is $100 and includes; neuter, microchip, reduced Training Class, free veterinary exam, 1 month pet health insurance, leash/collar, food sample, toy & Treat packet

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Oscar, a Portland Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Portland, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
