Maya's Story...
This is Maya. She's a lovable, affectionate girl, about 8 years young, who is looking for her forever home. She used to belong to a family who moved and gave her away at some point. Then she somehow ended up as a stray cat at the Medicine Hat Humane Society, where her tattoo was traced back to Pound Rescue and we went to rescue her all over again. Maya seems to be used to dogs, and would like a playmate, although unfortunately, the dogs in her foster home aren't used to cats. She likes playing with her catnip toys and sunning herself in the window. Every night, when the lights go out, she sneaks into the bedroom for a nightly cuddle. This beautiful, gentle, loving cat will be a wonderful companion to some very lucky person.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Maya, a Okotoks Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Okotoks, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Okotoks.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Okotoks already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Okotoks breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Okotoks paves the way for another one to be saved.
