Diesel is a great big couch potato - a loving, 5-year-old, neutered male Rottie who weighs 114 lbs. He is easy going and coachable. He gets along with medium and large dogs, but does not have any experience with cats or small dogs and gets very excited when he sees them outside his house. Diesel was used to having a large yard so he hasn't had a lot of leash training. A few minutes of fetch before walks and more frequent experiences with a leash should help curb the leash-pulling. Diesel is sweet, smart and aims to please. He knows "sit", "stay", "come" and "lie down." He loves belly rubs, his foam football and thinks he's a lap dog. Diesel is in good health. He does have a skin condition that is making him grow very distinguished gray hairs. No medication is required for it, but the vets recommend putting pet-safe sunscreen on his muzzle. He is housetrained and is equally comfortable spending the night in his crate or snuggling with you in bed. He does not have a lot of experience with children but with consistent
instruction, he would do well in a lower-activity home with children over 8 years old. Give Diesel the home of his dreams and love him for life. Adoption fee: $75.

Adoption Process:
Send an email to to tell us which pet you're interested in and we'll send you a questionnaire that will help us make the best match for you and your new pet. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the two-week trial run with the pet as part of your family. This is a trial period to give your dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the trial time and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Diesel, a Troy Rottweiler dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Rottweiler for sale in Troy, or seeking a Rottweiler dog from a breeder in Troy.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Troy already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Troy breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Rottweiler breeders who help with Rottweiler rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Troy paves the way for another one to be saved.
