Betsy (Great Cat!)'s Story...
This two-year-old sweetheart is spayed, declawed and a total delight. Betsy does have a lot of hair, but she loves having it groomed and she's good with her personal habits. She's not aggressive toward other cats; she just wants to make sure they don't invade her personal space until they get to know each other. She seems more interested in cuddling and snuggling than playing with toys and romping around.

We suspect Betsy would like a relatively quiet house with a person all of her own, and not more than one other cat or possibly a cat-friendly dog. She would love the attention of older children who want a friend to hang out with. Betsy would make a great study buddy.

She has tested negative for FIV and leukemia and has begun her vaccinations.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Betsy (Great Cat!), a Portland Maine Coon cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maine Coon for sale in Portland, or seeking a Maine Coon cat from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maine Coon breeders who help with Maine Coon rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
