My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you adopt Finnegan now, you will be the envy of the basset world in about 6 months!! Finnegan is looking for an extra special home, one that will give him lots of love and attention, but will teach him the rules with a firm but patient and gentle hand.
We don’t know his past, what we do know is that he arrived in an emaciated and anxious condition. He has a healthy appetite, so he was either out fending for himself for a long time, or deliberately starved, as he is at least 20 pounds underweight.. Our vet estimates his age at between 12 and 18 months, so he’s really just a baby, and he still acts like one in some ways. He took a trip to the dog park and was very scared of the big dogs, and he shook with fright when he met one of the foster cats in the hallway.

Finnegan knows how to use the doggie door, but is still learning which side of the door is the preferred one to go to the bathroom on! Surprisingly, he seems to be crate-trained which makes us wonder if he was kept for breeding, he is certainly handsome enough. Maybe he didn’t do well as a stud and was dumped somewhere.

Finnegan is a very sweet boy who is trying hard to fit in. He wants to play with the other dogs but isn’t sure yet how to do that, so sometimes he will just run around in circles by himself. He likes chew toys and soft toys, but his favorite pastime is to be by your side. His new family will be rewarded with boundless affection from this special boy, so get your application in soon.
