My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*******IMPORTANT****** IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ONE OF OUR DOGS PLEASE VISIT OUR WEBSITE AND FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION. AFTER WE HAVE AN APPLICATION ON FILE WE WILL COMMUNICATE SPECIFICS ABOUT THAT PARTICULAR DOG. WE ARE A SMALL RESCUE, OVERWHELMED BY THE NUMBER OF DOGS WE HAVE IN OUR FOSTER PROGRAM AND ARE UNABLE TO ANSWER OR CALL UNTIL WE HAVE AN ADOPTION APPLICATION.
Wallace is a 6 year old male rescued from a local Animal Control Shelter. He is ill with a lung infection and emaciation. He is now in isolation at our vets being evaluated and treated. Updates to follow.
Update: Wallace had a large mass in his abdomen. X--rays determined the mass to be from a fecal impaction. After manipulation under anesthesia, the impaction was removed. We estimate that Wallace had been suffering for over a month and was very very close to death from starvation or colon rupture, which ever came first. I would love to meet the people who dumped him to suffer a long painful death and I hope that not knowing what happened to him haunts them for eternity. They will have to answer for their actions one day.
Wallace is now happy, healthy and very very sweet. He does have constipation issues as a result of the stretched colon but we're working on bowel training and softening his stool to make it easier for him to pass. He may require sporadic enemas in the future to break up any impaction he may develop. He is very tolerant of this procedure and does not require anesthesia. He is on a strict regimen of stool softeners and pumpkin supplements to head off any problems.
Wallace has gained enough weight that we are able to neuter him within the next week. He is UTD on shots. He is not 6 as previosly thought, emaciation and pain tends to make a dog appear older, we think he is actually 4.
He loves his humans and gets along with other dogs. He's just darn happy not to be in pain anymore.
