Prince: 5 yr old black & rust male, neutered, docked tail and uncropped ears. 13", 16 lb. Shots up-to-date. Rescued from shelter. Housetrained on a schedule and about 90% when left on his own.
Prince is a larger-than-standard, handsome, even-tempered purebred minpin. He had not known human handling before turn in by a breeder, and unfortunately his first exposure had to be heartworm treatment, so it took quite a while to earn his trust. Although cautious, he is accepting of touch and socialization with us. With a regal bearing, he is steady, quiet and even-tempered, in his play with other dogs, in his interactions with us and in the yard. Prince is very pleased now to be petted - he used to stop a foot away, go very still and lean back on his legs. Now he stretches forward to receive your touch. Reeeaally stretches forward! He has been socialized with treat-based training. He'll get up on my lap if I sit on a lounge chair in the yard, and will let me pick him up with stroking first. He'll yip if I pick him up too quickly. Prince knows 2 commands - he responds to his name so he'll come when called, and knows the word "off." He is crate-trained and 90% housebroken. He is accepting of a leash and looks to you for reassurance as he walks next to you. He doesn't go potty on it, he'll need a yard. Prince is "grounded" - he doesn't get on furniture, the couch, or the bed. He is a strong boy - he's got quite the straight-up minpin spring when you are preparing his food or he's at the back door wanting to come in! He is learning to play with toys, has a few favorite stuffed companions but doesn't tear them up. His favorite thing is to doze in the sun. Prince is loyal, and occasionally likes you all to himself. When on my lap he'll quietly warn other dogs away. Prince is fully vetted and heartworm free, he will be neutered on Oct 13. He is the quintessential canine companion, and a really nice dog!
