My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thank you for visiting Bernie! By choosing to adopt a dog through C.A.R.E.S., you are not only giving a wonderful dog a forever home, but you are allowing us to rescue another dog on death row. You are also choosing to support a true no-kill rescue organization. Thank you!.

Isn’t he a handsome boy! Bernie was a stray and rescued from Animal Control when his time was up. We think he is a cross between a Bernese Mountain dog and a Labrador Retriever. He will be a large dog when he’s full grown. We estimate his age to be about 9-12 months old .

Bernie is just a happy boy who loves everyone and everything. He would love a playmate or going to dog parks regularly. He is fine with cats and I’m sure children.

He loves the water. He will just lay in it—such a goof! He also enjoys rolling in the grass. He just enjoys life and it is contagious!

We do not know if he is housetrained or crate trained. He appears to have had some training. He walks pretty well on a leash, he knows SIT and he COMEs pretty well. He is continuing his training while in our care.

Bernie is one in a million. Who’s gonna been the lucky family to adopt him?

This dog's adoption fee is $265 (plus tax). This includes being spayed/neutered, current on Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella vaccinations, wormed, microchipped with the HomeAgain microchip, heartworm tested (negative) and medicated during the heartworm season (May-Dec) while in our care, comes with a Gentle Leader headcollar (if we feel it is needed), and is currently learning Basic Obedience commands and good doggie manners.

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an application. If you'd like to have an application emailed to you, just email us. Thank you!
