Mugsy's Story...
Mugsy is his registered name, but he is used to having been called Mugsley. He is a new arrival to the SPCA. He is 3 years old, born July 33, 2007. He is housetrained. Some of his puppy pics were furnished to us with his records, as well. A former victim of neglect, we are told he will try to get into garbage or "counter surfing". With a watchful eye in that regard, someone will have a fine pet. He is a "looker" and a very good boy, however.. He will let you know when he wants outdoors. He is great with small children and other dogs, but we think he would prefer a home without cats. We will try to cat test him, however, but indications from the previous owner is a home without cats is better.

We will post more about him once we get to know him. Mugsy will be neutered and up to date on vaccinations prior to placement. He will be heartworm tested, given vet prescribed Drontal to ensure he is free of parasites such as round/hook/whip and/or tapeworms.

The first step in adopting Mugsley or any of our pets is to request an application via email to

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mugsy, a Scio Boxer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Boxer for sale in Scio, or seeking a Boxer dog from a breeder in Scio.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Scio already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Scio breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Boxer breeders who help with Boxer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Scio paves the way for another one to be saved.
