My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

INITIAL BIO 11/14/2010: Cleo is an a-DOR-rable 2 year old 12 lb Yorkie girl (possibly a Maltese-Yorkie, or Morkie, because of her beautiful light coloring) who is being fostered in Boynton Beach, FL. Cleo came into the shelter as a stray with a little boy who looked just like her. Though he quickly won the hearts of adopters due to his outgoing personality, little Miss Cleo cowered in the back of the cage in fear. She wouldn't look at anyone who came by her cage. She was quickly labeled "aggressive" due to her fear. UYR gladly stepped in to save this frightened sweetheart.

When Cleo was brought home, she was matted and covered in fleas and flea dirt. She hesitated when FM went to pet her. It took her all of 3 seconds to figure out that FM was a friend and wasn't going to hurt her. The only thing Cleo does aggressively is give kisses! She spent the entire ride home "assaulting" her foster mom with kiss after kiss after kiss as if to say, "Thank you. I was really really scared, and now I know I'm going to be OK."

Cleo went straight to the groomers and got a cute little puppy cut. The groomer tried her best to preserve her length, but in the end, the severe matting near her hindquarters caused her to have to give her a short haircut. Cleo is now a beautiful princess and is just waiting to make her new family complete.

Cleo needs a patient home that is willing to go slowly with her and let her develop trust for humans. Cleo loves affection and will do well in a home with other dogs or on her own. Her only quality that needs improvement is that Cleo is not appearing to be housetrained. She goes for walks, but then she potties indoors. Silly Cleo! She does hold it for a long time and likely will pick it up in time. Again, a new family with patience is a must :). Thanks for reading about Cleo!
