My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Story: Sammy is an 11 year-old Nevada mustang that lives w/his mom in Reno, NV. He is very beautiful and sassy guy that loves to be groomed, to be the center of attention, and he gives kisses for treats. Health: A little over a year ago Sammy hurt his hind quarters; it took over two months and several horse experts to come to the determination that he had broken his pelvis. The break occurred on the right side, causing him to lean to the left, twist his left hind foot when he steps, and wear his hoof unevenly. Since his injury, he has received two steroid shots, 6 months of regular acuscope treatments, bone-supplements, and frequent trims- all of which have helped, but he will never be normal. Other than his pelvic issue is he very healthy. Training: He is not able to be ridden, nor perform any type of physical job. Special Treatment: Currently, the only “special” treatment he is requiring is to rasp the left hind foot every few weeks to try to keep it from getting worn more unevenly and his hind legs get stretched about once a day. Otherwise, he is on a 6 to 8 week regular trim schedule. His owner has been trying to work with her farrier on evening his foot out- he gets a little more sore when trimmed (he does very small increments) for a day or two, and it has been helping him stand a little more squarely. Additional Information: The owner highly doubts it, but it is possible that he could straighten enough to maybe have a very light job. It has only been one year since the break, and he hasn’t even grown out a completely new hoof. He may be able to carry a very small load if his hoof levels and holds. Sometimes he stands completely square and normal, and then he’s leaning again a few minutes later. It’s very strange. Although his owner believes he is not in discomfort most of the time, she feel that she may not be able to provide him a home that can offer the greatest quality of life possible for him. She is not able to give him as much attention as he deserves and would love to find him a place where he could relax and graze in a nice pasture, be as lazy as he wishes, and/or maybe be a pasture pal to another animal. She is hoping to find someone that would be interested in giving Sammy a forever home where can be happy. Owner is happy to answer any questions that may arise. Fee: Negotiable.
