Ruby's Story...
*** ADOPTION PENDING ***

NLOL reps met Ruby for the first time when she was running around in a Target parking lot - eek! She seemed to be in good condition, but very skinny under all that husky hair. After exhaustive efforts were made in conjunction with Animal Care and Control to find Ruby's owner, NLOL was able to transfer her into our program.

Ruby is a typical Siberian - she loves to run and is a little bit of an escape artist. She doesn't really know how to drink out of a bowl of water. What she does instead is dip her open mouth into the water and try to bite it! It would seem that she had a drippy faucet for a water source, because she drinks well from running water. Ruby likes to flop over for belly rubs from our volunteers, but could use some obedience work. She has the standard Northern breed aversion to doing what she's told, but she's getting better every day!

Ruby is currently living with NLOL alum Eli and his sister Matty and getting along great with both of them. She has not met cats yet, but we have our doubts - after all, she is a Siberian! To meet or adopt Ruby, please contact us today!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ruby, a Chicago Siberian Husky dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Siberian Husky for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Siberian Husky dog from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Siberian Husky breeders who help with Siberian Husky rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
