Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We know that a lot of our shelter dogs have had hard lives based on their appearance and their behavior. Thankfully, we don't often know the shocking details about their past like we do with Cricket. In early July, as workers at an East Bay construction site were getting off work, they looked out the window and saw a car toss a box onto the property and speed off. Since the behavior was suspicious, they went to look. The box was a small one and was tightly taped up. It was a very hot day but there were no air holes. The workers opened it carefully not knowing what to expect. To their shock, they found a severely emaciated puppy.
They put out a frantic call to rescue for help. Now, fast-forward two months and we are proud to introduce Cricket! We believe he is a black and tan dachshund and chihuahua mix. He still needs to gain a pound or two, but he's now raring to go. Cricket lives his life to the fullest! This boy is stuffed with joy and a zest for living. He loves everybody and everything. He has an obsession with balls; so unfortunately, we can't let him have any at home. If you want to take a dog to the park to chase balls, he'd be great. He would love to live at a home with acreage or an active attentive family. We think he would not do well home alone all day.
This little guy would also most likely excel at any sport that requires focus. He could do agility or even Fly ball. If you like to jog or take long walks and want a small companion, he's the boy for you. Cricket has no trouble greeting new people and new dogs. Kids are fine with him. He wants an active home that continues to show him that life is good. Cricket is now neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped. He is crate trained although he would much prefer to sleep on the big bed.
