Geno's Story...
Breed: Shepherd/Hound mix
Sex: neutered male
Est. DOB: February 2010

Est. weight: 50 lbs.
Colors: Black and tan

GENO and his sister Shevah had mange and were living in a 4 x 4 dirt pen, when their family asked rescuers to help them find a better home. We worked with a great organization who saves as many dogs from hard times as they possibly can in a hard times part of the country.

They were spayed and neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested, treated for mange, and when the time was right, an entire cavalry of transporters was organized to relay them West to us.

They got rave reviews from the drivers on each leg of the journey, and one said it very well: "They have no training but are utterly charming."

They are SO happy to be social butterflies, playing and napping with everybody, snoozing at my feet while I work. They charmed the sox off everyone at their first adoption event. Geno's gaze melts hearts!

Geno is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm test negative, mastering house training. Adoption fee: $125.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Geno, a Santa Fe Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) for sale in Santa Fe, or seeking a Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Santa Fe.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Santa Fe already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Santa Fe breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Santa Fe paves the way for another one to be saved.
