My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Duke is a fantastic dog and would make the perfect family pet or best friend. So lovable, and with a great heart. He is an extremely loyal, respectful and smart dog. He is very willing to please, learns fast and knows what is expected of him. He can sit, stay, go lie down, he never goes on couches or beds, and is fully house trained. Duke is good around children, cats and dogs.

Duke walks very well on and off leash. He loves to go on long walks or hikes and will happily play fetch. Being a lab, he is a big fan of the water and will take a dip or two if given the opportunity. Although Duke has been through some traumatic experiences, you would never know. Duke loves life. He is has so much love to give and is such a happy dog, always wagging his tail!! Being a part of your everyday life is a big treat for him and he loves to go in the car or on any adventure you might be taking. He loves to be around his people and gets lots of affection without being needy. He does seem to have a little guard dog in him and may bark when strangers come to the door but settles quickly when told. He is a great to have around and is a wonderful friend! Once you look into those big brown eyes you can’t help but fall in love.

Some of the trauma that Duke has endured has left him with some medical conditions. Although he has made a full recovery from most, he is still left with a number of broken teeth. These were most likely broken while trying to escape from a bad situation. Duke does not have any trouble eating or be in pain- he loves to eat! I currently have him on a hypoallergenic diet. He also seems to do very well on the raw food diet.

Duke is a young boy, approximately 1 – 2 years old. He is small for a Labrador in stature but very big in heart!

If you have any questions or would like to see more pictures of Duke or, if you believe you have room in your heart for this darling boy, please go to our website at http://uglymutts.com and submit an application for consideration.
